What is botulinum toxin?

Vistabel®, Bocouture® and BOTOX® are a form of neuromodulators (Botulinum Toxin) that have been purified and diluted to be safe for cosmetic and medical use. Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxant, and when administered, the toxin temporarily blocks neuronal activity, preventing full muscle contraction. When the signaling pathway is blocked, the sweat glands suddenly receive no stimulus from the nervous system and the result is that the sweat glands stop producing sweat. Botox is thus a very potent drug for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis.

How often do you have to be treated and how quickly do you feel the effect?
It is individual how long the effect lasts. For most people, the effect lasts approx. 30 weeks, but with some the effect lasts shorter, while others find that the effect lasts for more than 1 year. You should be aware that it can take 3-14 days before you can start to feel the effect after a treatment. It would be advantageous to repeat the treatment before the effect of the previous treatment disappears completely.
