Wrinkle Treatment (Botox)

The onset of forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet and frown lines is a common problem for men and women as they age. Though these lines and wrinkles are just reminders of your maturity and wisdom, they can also make you appear tired and angry. Prevention and treatment of these wrinkles can be done by injection of Botulinum toxin in the form of Bocouture® Azzalure®, Dysport® and BOTOX®

What is Botulinum Toxin?

Vistabel®, Bocouture® and BOTOX®  are a form of neuromodulators (Botulinum Toxin) that has been purified and diluted to be safe for cosmetic use. Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxant, and when administered, can significantly ease the appearance of some wrinkles. When injected into facial muscles, the toxin temporarily blocks neuron activity, which prevents full muscle contraction. Because the muscles can no longer contract, the appearance of wrinkles caused by facial movements like frowning, raising eyebrows, or squinting is significantly reduced. Botox injections are an ideal solution for smoothing the skin between eyebrows, eliminating lines on the forehead, and reducing the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes.

Neuromodulator injections are a noninvasive approach to reducing the signs of facial aging. When used as a treatment for excessive underarm sweating, Botulinum toxin limits nerve responses in the sweat glands, temporarily reducing or eliminating sweat production in the treated area. It can also be prescribed to treat severe, uncontrollable spasms and stiffness in the neck muscles, called “cervical dystonia (CD)”. CD can make those muscles tighten, forcing your head into an abnormal and painful position. Botox is injected directly into muscles to alleviate the pain and make them relax.

What are the Advantages of Wrinkle treatment?

  • Fast and effective. A typical treatment will show improvement approximately after 4-7 days, and takes only 10-15 minutes to complete.

  • Little discomfort – we take great care in administering these injections.

  • There is no “downtime.” After the injections, you may resume normal activity or go back to work.

  • Creates natural-looking outcomes without evidence that you’ve had work done.

  • There is no decrease in sensation or numbness of treated areas.

  • The effects of injections are reversible; lasting 3 to 6 months.

  • Repeated injections of upkeep treatments may cause a muscle memory response to develop, thus enhancing the effects.

  • A non-surgical approach to treat wrinkles, which eliminates the need for anesthesia and long recovery times.

Who is the Best Candidate for Wrinkle treatment?

A wide range of patients benefit from neuromodulator treatments. Typically, we treat patients from their 20′s to 80′s. Younger patients and those with fewer wrinkles are good candidates for this procedure because though their wrinkles may not be yet pronounced, we can administer it as a preventative measure to minimize the creasing of the skin. Patients who’ve had laser resurfacing or a facelift also benefit from these injections because their fresh, newly resurfaced skin is prevented from repeated wrinkling.

Do Injections Hurt?

At Aviva Clinique, we take great care to make the injections painless for our patients. We use only the thinnest toxin needle in the world 'The invisible needle' to minimize pain and bleeding. We can apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to the treatment to numb the area if you wish, contact us for more information. When the injection begins, you may feel a slight stinging sensation, but it will quickly subside.

Are Injections Safe?

Vistabel®, Bocouture® and BOTOX® has an excellent safety profile. It has been used by neurologists and ophthalmologists for nearly two decades to correct facial tics and to relax the eye muscles responsible for the condition known as lazy eye. These type of treatment have not produced any toxic effects to patients. However, if you are pregnant or have a neurological disease, you should not be treated with Botox Cosmetic injections.

The Right Approach for You

During your consultation, we’ll carefully evaluate your target areas and design a specific plan based around your personal goals. For the very best results, we may also recommend combining Botox with another minimally invasive facial treatment like dermal fillers. Consultations with our doctor are required even if you've already had the treatment in another clinic before. You may bring another person during your consultation. Written and verbal information will  be given to you and you will have 2 days to think the treatment over.

What Are the Side Effects of Botox?

Side effects of Botox injections are minimal. Most patients may see some bruising, bleeding, slight pain, redness, or swelling where the injections were given, but those symptoms typically subside fairly quickly after the procedure. There were some other side effects that were observed in clinical trials: three percent of patients experienced eyelid drooping in the frown lines and one percent of patients experienced eyelid swelling in the crow’s feet. Other possible adverse effects such as dry mouth, tiredness, headache, neck pain, eye problems, muscle weakness, and allergic reactions can occur. Certain medications may negatively interact with the product as well, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. It’s very important that you discuss all of the medicines and treatments you use with us to ensure a healthy Botox experience.
